Double Coated Pups should be groomed between 4-6 weeks. We recommend that these Pups are brought to us for de-shedding. This is a process where we use a special brush to get rid of the dead undercoat, this allows the skin to breath. After this process you will notice less fur around the house as it has been brushed away by us.

Long coats and curly coated Pups should be groomed between 4-6 weeks (depending how long you keep your Pups coat). The coat on these Pups gets matted easily. These Pups should be brushed at least every three days to keep tangles at bay.

If your Pups coat is cut very short, you can bring them in for grooming between 6-8 weeks. However, you should still brush you Pups consistently.

You can also bring your pups for mini grooming in between full grooming session to keep the coat nice and tidy.

Tangles can be kept at bay if the Pup is brushed regularly. Unbrushed tangles will eventually become matts. Matts pull at the Pups skin and causes great discomfort.

If your Pup has mats in their coat, we can de-matt at $1 per minute. If the mats are severe, for the welfare of the dog we recommend shaving off the matts.

If severe matting, we will contact Pup parents to discuss options, if Pup parents are not contactable, we will go ahead to shave the coat. Please note that we will only do this if no other options and for the welfare of the dog. De-matting hurts the Pup and will potentially put the Pup off the grooming process in the future.

We will use clippers to shave the matts off, there will always be a risk that the clippers will cause nicks and small cuts on the Pups skin. If this happens, we will apply first aid as I have a pet first aid certificate; however, we are not responsible for any vet bills.

The best thing to do is to regularly brush your Pup, so to avoid unnecessary pain and discomfort due to matting.

From the first day your Puppy comes home, you should start a routine to prepare them for future grooming sessions.

Puppies should be brushed all over its body, including the face.

Play with your Pups Toes, Toenails and Paw pads by massaging.

Touch the Pups ears, open its mouth and examine its teeth, touch areas around the face and around the eyes.

We only groom one dog at a time, we put all our love, care and attention to your Pup during the whole grooming session.

For safety reasons, during grooming session, we will put a loop around Pup’s neck while he is on the grooming table or inside the bath tub. This is to prevent to Pup from jumping off the table or out of the tub and getting hurt.

We will only use a muzzle if a Pup gets aggressive during grooming session, this is for the safety of
both Pups and myself.

Before Pups come for grooming, please let us know if your Pup has any behavioral problems, aggressive tendencies, parts of his body that he does not like being touched and any medical conditions.

Cheeky Pups reserve the rights to refuse any service and stop any grooming session at our discretion, reasons such as and not limited to: our groomers safety is compromised by an aggressive Pup or if your Pup has any medical conditions.
